Just like the bush pilots of old, you’ll have the chance to learn and fly two legendary seaplanes that forever shaped the backcountry with their utilitarian fortitude and grit.

First up is our 1957 De Havilland Beaver, N31357.  Commissioned as an Army L-20 liaison aircraft, the Beaver served throughout the Vietnam war as troop support, observation, and general liaison missions.  Evidence of her colorful history in the 1960s and the boys who flew and worked on her abroad can still be seen in the rear section of the fuselage. Now equipped with Wipline 6000 straight floats, Beaver 357 is back in her natural element showcasing her short takeoff and landing abilities on the waters of Northern Minnesota and Canada.

From the Beaver, you can step up into our Beech 18. Fast, powerful, and incredibly light on the controls, the Twin Beech is a testament to the Golden Age of Aviation. Walter Beech’s “Queen of the Skies,” this venerable utilitarian is a once in a lifetime treat to fly! Our 1954 Beech 18D is by far the most pristine Beech 18 on floats that exists! For over 40 years, N33JP was the corporate transport and personal favorite airplane of Duluth native, “The King of Frozen Foods” and “Pizza Man” Jeno Paulucci. Powered by twin 9 cylinder Pratt & Whitney R985’s on Edo 7850 floats, the Twin Beech is truly a gentle giant!
